David
Lewis meets his Challenge
David
Lewis one of Rendezvous' long term members had been ill recently
and as part of his recovery started to take daily short local walks
of about one and a half miles then extended the walks to four miles
walking from his home in Dundonald to the Old mill on the road to
Newtownards. It
had always been a dream of David's to walk 100 miles in one week
and so one morning recently he woke up feeling good and decided
to take on this mighty challenge.
Day
1 went well achieving between 14 & 16 miles. It was important
to be consistent and maintain this level of mileage each day as
one bad day could mean his challenge would not be achieved.
Each
day he continued to make good progress reaching the required number
of miles but by Day 7 and on his final day things got very difficult
with foot blisters and leg strain slowing down his progress. However
showing great grit and determination David Lewis achieved his goal
and ambition walking 100 miles in one week.
David
said he fulfilled a dream but would not recommend to anyone as it
was very tough.
Congratulations
to David on this fantastic achievement. It shows with the right
attitude, drive and determination you can fulfill your dream.
